WORDS

Words can build up - but they can also tear down.
The right words can make a difference in any situation - even in the matter of life or death.
Words can shape, mold, create, inspire, or encourage.
When used properly words can change a life, give life, or keep life.
When words are spoken things shift - good or bad - happy or sad.
Words hurt.
Words bruise.
Words have the ability to destroy confidence, self esteem, and even life.
Remember to choose your words carefully. No one, not even you, like to be talked to in a heartless or unkind manner. The process of building up is so much cleaner than tearing down.

Constantly ask yourself ((only if you care)) how confident are the people around you? If your children are are fearful now, they will hate you later. The same posture that you have with your parents, spouse, friends, strangers will be the same posture your children walk in when it's their time. It's not that history merely repeats itself...it's just that strongholds are never broken, so things never change - including words. We are reminded in Ephesians 4:29 to "Let no corrupt communication  proceed out your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."
If you see a generational pattern of brokenness then I suggest you check your words and do the following:  Be the change. Be the light. Be the platform to life. ~jess

  1. Wow!!!! God is so awesome. You are truly being used by God as a communicator for his word. This post really touched me. I haven't spoken to my sister in about a week. For us that's a long time because we speak everyday. I have made great changes in my life and I want that for my sister as well. Since these changes we don't see eye to eye anymore. I've prayed and asked God to help me find the right WORDS to say to my sister in order to help her realize where our blessings come from. I'm not perfect nor do I claim to be. It just hurts to see someone you love not give the same love in return. I've learned that everyone's mind doesn't process things the same. Even if you share blood and was raised in the same household. I pray for patience and understanding. I never want to come across as non compassionate. I want to speak life and build up with my words. That is my prayer. Thank you so much for this...

  2. - I am at a loss for words my darling. This post came from my heart which stemmed from a conversation. Here's the beautiful thing about family - that's the ONE thing we have when we are born- and that is the ONLY thing we have when we die.
I've learned to love people right where they are in life. We always want what is best for those that we love - but the ultimate question is - what do THEY want? You just continue to love her- continue to lead by example. Don't preach at her - teach her by being the message. We all learn in our own time - in our own unique way! Patience is key - but understanding is golden! I love you doll and keep being awesome- those that come in contact with you will only want some of your awesomeness!!!

  3. WRITE THE BOOK ALREADY!!!!!!!! You are so amazing and absolutely right. You honestly couldn't have said it better. We've spoken since and all I can do is absolutely love her where she is. I'm not perfect, and I still have a long way to go. We just have different struggles. I love you Jess!!! I don't think you really know the depths of what you do. THANK YOU!!!!!!
